Sexism in university culture

This is a cartoon that has been published one and half weeks ago on Volume 43 Issue 3 of Leeds Student, the University of Leeds student newspaper. They asked me to draw something about the weird influx of sexism in university culture, with regards to a recent controversy on a fancy dress themed event called ‘Pimps and Hoes’. The topic is delicate, and I definitely agree that there is some confusion on the perception of sexism in a young environment such as the university... so that's what I came up with.

Leeds Zine Fair 2012

Time to go out and promote my comics in person again! This time in my city, Leeds, at Wharf Chambers 4th November 2012. I will be selling booklets of The real Sherlock Holmes on the communal table, £1.50 a copy. This is going to be a very nice event, so if you would like to come you can find more infos at the organisers' website and the Facebook page of the event.

Pints and pencils - October 2012

Last Thursday I went to this event organised by the Leeds University Union Comic Society and the comic shop Travelling man at Fab Cafe, a funny drawing competition where you are supposed to draw a four-panel comic based on randomly selected combinations of action, places, situations and celebrity (fictional and non-fictional) names. Mine was "Megatron - accidentally seeing an old lady in a toilet - with David Cameron - on a very busy motorway". The result is the following, (sorry for the bad quality but this is the best I can get from scanned pencil drawings - click on it to see it larger):

Apparently the judges liked it and I won! :) The prize was some free drinks and a £20 voucher to be spent at Travelling man... and that's what I bought with it (yes, I'm still deep into 2000AD readings):

Fumetti disegnati male 11

Even though I don't live in Italy anymore, I still try to keep myself active also on the Italian side of my cartooning activity. And in this occasion I am delighted to announce my debut on the pages of Fumetti disegnati male (Badly drawn comics), an awesome Italian webzine collecting works from la creme de la creme of the Italian webcomics such as Emiliano Mattioli (who is also FDM's editor), Davide La Rosa, Luca Speroni etc.

You can download the issue 11 in pdf clicking here or on the image above, and among all the other fantastic things you can see my comic strip at page 10.

Deerstalker Hat

I know some of you are waiting for the new adventures of the real Sherlock Holmes... in the meantime please enjoy this strip about his hat's bad behaviour. Clearly this is one of the most idiotic things I have ever drawn, but it's not the worst thing I did... stay tuned and you will discover what I am talking about soon.
