The origins of The real Sherlock Holmes

A new adventure of The real Sherlock Holmes is coming. In the meantime I'm sharing with you, in this post, the very first drawing I ever did with the two protagonists of this series:

As you can see, some things changed when I started the series, e.g. Sherlock's nose and other little dressing details. At that time I just wanted to do a quick drawing with Holmes & Watson, I didn't already know what I would have done later with these two characters. So they are potrayed in their traditional activity: investigating, rather than the everyday life housemate troubles I'm making them playing, reintrepreting the title of Conan Doyle's novels and short stories.

The real Sherlock Holmes: Steampunk

The movies by Guy Ritchie - and above all this version of Sherlock Holmes - have given a steampunk touch to the adventures of the famous detective. However, this is my version of a steampunk Sherlock Holmes.

The real Sherlock Holmes - In other media

Experimenting a new layout (single frame) for the adventures of the real Sherlock Holmes; this time he's facing himself in other media.

Plan 9 from outer space

A little preview of part of a poster project I am working on. For the moment I'm not going to tell you more about this... but you can get an idea by yourself.

Random drawings: pie recipe

I didn't know what to draw, but since I've got this new ink pen to try - Pilot Hi-Techpoint V5 - I simply drew what I had for lunch (and dinner) during last weekend: a British-style savoury pie.
Maybe it is not a masterpiece, but I liked it, so here is the recipe for you (I feel like a granny to share a recipe, but whatever... and sorry for my terrible handwriting).

From the past: Worms

If you have never played with a videogame the Worms series, I'm sorry but you haven't had a completely funny youth. When I was in high school, but even during the days of the university, I played a lot with this game - I had Worms 2 and Worms World Party - basically with everybody I knew: my sister, my friends etc., since it was something universally enjoyable.
To be very fast, this was a turn game where you have a team of worms on a 2D sinking landscape, and you play against another team of worms, and the only purpose is to kill all the opponents with a wide choice of weapons, from usual arms (pistol, shotgun, bazooka...) to more funny ones (the explosive old lady, the sheep, the holy bomb, the French nuclear experiment...). So a big part of the game was having fun blasting the worms with creativity.

A screenshot of the game
I was having fun depicting these worms in my diary and schoolbooks, and I did also this 4-page comic adaptation placing them into a kind-of Vietnam war. Again I don't remeber exactly when I did it, somewhere between 1999 and 2001. Clearly this story is unfinished.

Charles Darwin vs. Creationists

A 4-page story I did in my spare time. I am quite happy of it especially because I did it straight with pen, without any previous pencil version, preliminary sketches or other. About the theme, it is an evergreen, and you all know about the famous caricature depicting Charles Darwin with a monkey's body because of his theories.

The real Sherlock Holmes - A scandal in Bohemia

Another chapter for the everyday life adventures of Sherlock Holmes. This time in a new format, and in colors! To be honest I'm not completely satisfied with the cartoon itself - I did it on the plane back from Italy, but then I used it the same as a further color test, hope you like the result.
This time I used a "softer" color palette, I'm quite ok with the results. I put also some fancy photoshopping to do the tabloid, I hope it is readable... if not, just click on the image to see a lager version.

From the past: Star Wars II

Here we are, with the few tables belonging to a never finished (not even started, to be honest) Star Wars Episode II - The attack of the clones parody I was planning at the time the movie went out.
I haven't translated it to English, since I decided that it was not worth it being just penciled pages (not inked) on bad quality paper, as you can see. So, not exactly a professional job, not even a decent job, but I'm going to share it with you remembering the good time I had drawing it.
